Over the years, we have proven our successes through Modern Apprenticeships which was a government initiative to support people through their apprenticeships. This initiative ran for 16 years. We were a Band 1 provider (top 5%), and in 2011 we ranked 2nd out of 52 providers in the country.
The directors (Rick and Claire) have worked together for 20 years in education, training and administration and have vast experience within this realm. Following a redundancy from their previous employment from a Private Training Establishment, they decided to set up a business of their own to continue the good work that they were doing. Brad joined our team in November 2017 and was employed because of his education and training background and vast experience in the building and construction sector. He shares our values and passion for helping young people succeed and fits well in our team.
We are firm believers of the ‘ripples in the pond’ effect whereby helping the apprentice to gain a qualification, we not only assist them and their families to become financially secure; the wider community and NZ as a whole benefit from the increased productivity of the workforce.
Smart Trades exists because of a desire to pay it forward to our apprentices, to enable them to help their families and ultimately help communities grow and prosper.
